How to Install WordPress

Any decent web hosting company will provide you with a feature called 1-click install to install WordPress in a matter of minutes and in just a few clicks.

Here, we will show you how to install WordPress on SiteGround and Bluehost using that feature.

STEP 1

Log into your SiteGround account. On the top menu bar click Websites, then select New Websites button on the right. You will see a screen asking you if you want to use a  new domain, existing domain, or create a website with the temporary domain so you can decide on it later (image below).

If you already have the domain you want to use, select the Existing Domain box. The text box Enter Your Domain Name will appear. Enter the domain name and click Continue.

STEP 2

Here, on the next screen, you will be presented with the option to start a new website or migrate a website from a different host (see below).

Since we are creating a new website, click Select under Start New Website (image below). You will be given an option on what software or CMS (content management system) you want to use.  Choose WordPress by clicking Select.

STEP 3

Once WordPress is selected, a text box Installation Details will appear. Here, you need to enter the email address and the password that you will use to log into your website in the future. Once you are done, click Continue.

STEP 4

You will be taken to one last screen where you can choose an extra feature called SG Site Scanner.

SG Site Scanner refers to SiteGround’s malware detection and monitoring service. It will scan your website regularly for security issues. And if any issues are detected, it will immediately send you a notification via email.

Note: If you want to add this feature, click Add button on the right. Just remember, this is an extra feature, and SiteGround charges it $19.80 yearly.

STEP 5

Click Finish and your site will be launched and good to go!

How to install WordPress on Bluehost

STEP 1

Log into your Bluehost account. Click on My Sites link on the left.

To create a new website, click on the Create Site blue button on the right or Add site button (see image below).

STEP 2

On the next screen, you will be given a choice between WordPress and BlueHost native web builder. Since we will be using WordPress, click Use WordPress.

STEP 3

Here, you will be asked to enter your site name and a tagline. The site name is the name of your blog. The tagline is a brief description of what your blog is about. The tagline is optional, and you can always change it later if you want.

Once you are done, click Next.

STEP 4

In this step, select your domain name from the drop-down menu.

For now, you can uncheck all the boxes in Helpful Free Plugins section. You can always install them later, or choose different ones that better suit your purposes.

Click Next.

STEP 5 – Congratulations, WordPress installed successfully!

Once you click Next,  the installation process will start. Wait for a few moments while Bluehost completes the installation.
